This VCCCAR sponsored Think Tank was held in Kerang in August 2011. Participants from local and state goverment agencies, flood-effected communities and researchers discussed the role of climate change in flood management and planning.
Think tanks
Think tanks facilitate the exchange of knowledge by creating space for learning where scientific, policy, and other communities can build common understanding of key issues. Think tanks focus on specific themes and are held in different regions throughout the state.
The Warragul think tank, 'Towards a Gippsland climate change adaptation study' was held on 9 August 2011. It attracted 70 participants from a range of organisations to discuss how the state government and higher education sectors can facilitate a better understanding of the climate challenges facing the Gippsland region. The Think Tank was coordinated by Assoc. Professors Graeme Moore and Colin Duffield, University of Melbourne, and Dr Rob Faggian, Department of Primary Industries.
This VCCCAR Think Tank was held on 12 July, 2011. The Think Tank facilitated a conversation between business leaders, government officials and academics in the region aimed at enhancing innovative ways to adapt and take advantage of future climate change while providing an opportunity to learn how different businesses are responding to operating in a variable and changing climate.
