In conjunction with the Global Cities Research Institute and The EU Centre at RMIT, VCCCAR presents a free seminar by Hans de Moel, with an introduction by Professor Rod Keenan, Director of VCCCAR.

Climate change is projected to have various impacts in the Netherlands. Particularly adverse impacts related to flooding are of crucial importance to such a low-lying, densely populated country. So how is the Netherlands planning to cope with these changes?

Hans de Moel is a recipient of an RMIT Foundation Visiting International Fellowship 2011. He is a senior researcher at the Institute for Environmental Studies, an interdisciplinary research institute at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. His work focuses on flood risk, climate change and adaptation activities and options. This lecture will give an overview of how the Dutch are adapting to their changing climate and what lessons they have learned that are relevant to Australia.
