Think tanks round one - 2010
The first round of VCCCAR sponsored regional/thematic workshops, involving academics, policymakers, and wider stakeholder communities, has commenced. Combining plenary presentations and more interactive formats, the workshops aim to facilitate the understanding of potential climate change impacts and the development of adaptation and resilience in different regions or thematic areas, present research relevant to a region and its adaptation challenges, discuss climate change adaptation issues and strategies with local decision-makers, share learnings across sectors and communities, and inform the development of research priorities and projects specific to different regions or thematic areas. The workshops will seek representation from a range of stakeholders or representatives from the academic, public, private, and local community sectors dependent on the location and/ or theme. Each event will be preceded by a scoping exercise to identify existing related policy and research initiatives to avoid ‘reinventing the wheel’ and to promote synergies where this is possible and adds value.
