Climate Adaptation Engineering for cities and coasts symposium 2013

Event location:
The Hotel Windsor, 111 Spring Street, Melbourne
Date:
Monday, October 28, 2013

This symposium aims to showcase research progress in Climate Adaptation Engineering and demonstrate the significance of this research for human settlement in urban and coastal areas. Climate Adaptation Engineering (CAE) takes into account the risks of changing climate and develops technological and engineering solutions to reduce vulnerability and build resilience and adaptive capacity in our cities and coasts.

In addition, CAE considers a range of decision pathways for planning, design, construction, maintenance and renewal of the built environment, and provides decision makers economic costs and benefits of taking adaptation steps.

Key research areas

Water & electricity - supply/demand, design, utilities, performance, service life
Transport infrastructure - roads, rail and ports: reliability and serviceability
Building & construction - durability, thermal performance, indoor environment
Cross-cutting - policies, planning and public health

Conference fees

Early bird fee: A$450 before 30 June
Full fee: A$550
